The purpose of this study was to examine the reasons and perceptions related to obtaining a nursing assistant licensure among the estheticians working at the medical skincare area, and to analyse the differences in work patterns and conditions between estheticians with or without a nursing assistant licensure. The target population of this study was estheticians working at the medical skincare areas in Seoul and Jeju province. Out of 80 questionnaires distributed, 65 were returned and 63 were analysed for this study. The results indicated, the main reason for obtaining the nursing assistant license was "selfdevelopment (41.7%)" and 16.7% of participants were encouraged by hospital currently working on. The work patterns and job conditions of estheticians showed no statistical difference by having the licensure or not (P<.05), and some estheticians without the nursing assistant licensure were doing tasks those were not covered within the scope of estheticians. This study suggests that further studies and discussions are necessary on this issue.
